Madrid - aquí estoy!

Madrid - Here I am!!

Finally made it here, and today is my first full official day in Spain! I departed San Diego on Friday evening and after a connecting flight in Heathrow (by the way, kudos to British Airways for complimentary wine and episodes of How I Met Your Mother on the flight!) arrived at my apartment in Madrid at around 9:30 pm on Saturday. The apartment is pretty nice, my room is very spacious but a little bare at the moment, hopefully that can be remedied. There are 6 bedrooms, only 4 of which are full at the moment, a small kitchen and common room and a beautiful balcony with a view of downtown Madrid in the distance! I have met 2 of my roommates so far, both are from the U.S. (South Carolina and San Francisco) and they seem really great! One is doing the same program, Adelante, as I am, but with a different internship. All interns are enrolled in the 2-week intensive language program starting tomorrow, so I'm glad I'll have a buddy to navigate there with!

Not much else to report so far, I have just been getting unpacked, settled and accustomed to everything! It has been a little overwhelming so far but I'm already loving everything about the city. I did conquer the grocery store today, fairly successfully minus the fact that the 7 minute walk turned into 30 because I couldn't find it (it's not the destination, it's the journey, right?) and I realized that I could only buy as much as I could carry back to the apartment. It has definitely been an adventure so far!

I've never done a blog before, so we'll see how this goes! Disclaimer, all of the internet sites are entirely in Spanish so bear with me if it takes a bit to figure it out! Miss you all so much!
